Pari kirsikkaa



Tällä kirsikalla ei ollut kerätessä pari vuotta sitten tyvellä juuria. Nyt niitä alkaa jo olla, joten pääsin poistamaan tyvestä paljon puuta, jotta puu mahtuu bonsairuukkuun. Vähän jännitti, onko operaatio liian rankka, mutta ei ollut:

En tiedä mikä kirsikka puu on, niitä kasvaa tässä lähellä ihan villinä - ovat toki jostain puutarhasta karanneita.

Japaninkirsikka, Prunus serrulata kanzan/kwanzan tms., joka löytyi Pirilän kukkatalosta. Oksat olivat runsaat 2 metriä pitkiä, ja pätkäisin ne jo kaupassa. Istutettaessa kävi sitten ilmi, että puulla oli muutama juuri keskellä runkoa, ja varsinainen nebari oli ruukun pohjalla. Runko kuitenkin kapeni alaspäin, joten sahasin rungon poikki leveimmän kohdan alapuolelta. Pahalta näytti, täytyy myöntää.



Hyvin lähti kuitenkin kasvamaan. Ei voi ennustaa pitkää ikää, koska talvenkestävyys on niin ja näin.

    I would like to have a Prunus too. Nice to see the flowers at spring.

    Thank you both, there are actually two cherries here, first one is collected 2010 (there is a dozen of these nearby). It seems to overwinter easily, and is a very strong grower. I don't know exactly what cultivar it is. I suppose cherries are vigorous, they don't die easily, even if there is some winter damage.

    Second one is japanese cherry, and it is not really winter hardy here. I bought it this spring. I didn't leave much roots, but it doesn't seem to care. Flowers would really be nice..

    I really thought it was the same tree, sorry! I see the difference when you say so.
    I do believe there is some kind of cherry that would be winterhardy also for my climate, but I have not tried it. And I have quite a lot of trees to take care of already, so it is not necessary to get one more...

    What I have tried is prunus padus, with not very good result...

    Anna, let me know if you want one :). They are rather easily collected. At least that one was. We could swap trees. Northern birch would be interesting..

    I should make a short notice in postings in English too, for you aliens.
